How do I claim my expenses?

Only when the individual commences employment with the company can we reimburse costs. We can then send them a T&E Claim form, this must be completed and authorised by their Line Management and sent back to the Relocation Officer, B444 together with all receipts that they are claiming (receipts must be originals). The Relocation Officer will then authorise the claim and then log the costs on peoplesoft.

Im not selling my property, am I still entitled to the full relocation package?

We would still reimburse costs for the purchasing a property section of the package ie. Legal fees, stamp duty, Mortgage Arrangement Fees, Survey Fees (Homebuyers only), Removals

What does Temporary Accommodation include?

Temporary Accommodation includes rent and dual utility bills if the individual is paying bills on their own property. We will reimburse utility costs for bills from the rented accommodation in this area. Reimbursement of rent is payable of ‘reasonable costs’ which is usually in the region of £450-£600 per calendar month. Depending on the Grade/package the rent may only be a monthly contribution.

Can I have my rent/Council tax paid into my bank account prior to the date the payment is due?

Yes, we can arrange for expenses to pay an amount into the individuals bank account. We need sight of their tenancy agreement to prove the month amount and dates. We then authorise the Expenses dept to pay the amount on the requested date. To enable expenses to process this, they require a Bacs form completing.

What do I do regarding removals?

The individual must obtain 3 quotes from 3 different removal companies, and then the individual must go with the cheapest company. We need all 3 quotes as well as the receipt for payment of the cheapest quote before the individual can be reimbursed.

Can I hire a van for removals?

Yes, the employee can hire a van and also claim for diesel if they are not using a removal company. Alternatively some employees use their cars for removals, the mileage can also be claimed @ 18p per mile.

Can I arrange for any structural survey?

The employee can instruct for any survey to be completed, but the Company will only contribute to the price of the ‘Homebuyers’ survey.

When can I have the Resettlement Grant?

The grant is not something that is given before the employee is settled in their new property. It is designed for the relocate not to be out of pocket as a consequence of relocating to a new area. At the same time it should not be seen as a means of replacing old or worn out furniture. The grant should be used to bring your new home up to the standard of your previous one.

What can I buy with the resettlement grant?

Examples of Expentiture:

  • Curtains, Carpets etc
  • Fixtures from Bedrooms. Lounge ie. Fitted units
  • Disconnection and reconnection of equipment that requires electricity or gas
  • Telephone connection
  • Installation of TV aerials/Satellite/Burglar Alarms systems
  • Installation of washing machine or dish washer
  • Redecorating costs
  • Replacing kitchen equipment left at old home
  • Emergency repair costs when moving into new home
